What a Magic card scanner app has to get right
Magic has been reprinting cards since 1993, and the market prices printings, not names. The same card can be worth pennies as a recent set reprint and serious money as an original printing, a borderless or showcase treatment, an extended-art or retro-frame variant, a promo, or a serialized copy with a stamped number. Foil and etched finishes move the price again. Modern Magic makes this harder every year: collector boosters, The List, Universes Beyond, and Secret Lair mean one card name can map to a dozen visually distinct versions in print at the same time.
A scanner that stops at the card name cannot value a Magic collection. Cube identifies the specific printing, then cross-checks every scan multiple ways before it lands in your collection, because a confident wrong match is worse than no match.

Card data from Scryfall, prices from the live market
Cube's Magic catalog is built on Scryfall, the same database most serious MTG tools rely on. That means every printing of every card, with the set codes, collector numbers, and treatment details needed to tell near-identical versions apart. If you have ever disambiguated two printings by squinting at a copyright line and a collector number, this is the data layer that makes that unnecessary.
Prices come from live trading-card market data and refresh continuously. The number next to a card reflects the market now, not a snapshot from whenever the app last bothered to update.
Continuous scanning: a binder in one sitting
Most scanner apps want one card per shot: frame it, confirm it, repeat. Cube scans continuously. Hold your phone over a binder page or work through a stack, and each card is identified and priced as you go. A bulk box that would take an evening of manual entry becomes one sitting.
Continuous scanning is included on the free tier. The limit there is how many cards you track, not how fast you can move.
An MTG collection tracker that thinks like a portfolio
Anyone who has been buying Magic cards for a few years is holding an asset, on purpose or not. Cube treats the collection that way. Buying a box at release and cracking it is a cost. Knowing what the singles are worth two years later is the other half of the ledger. Cube keeps both sides of it.

Cube has an opt-in leaderboard ranked by distinct-card value. Duplicates do not count, so a thousand copies of one bulk rare moves you nowhere. It rewards breadth and quality, not hoarding. And it is opt-in: if ranking your collection against strangers is not your thing, skip it.
